India is home to an estimated 6.8 million artisans. The production of handmade products could very well be the
second largest source of employment in rural India after agriculture. Yet, for a country with beautiful handmade
products, tremendous diversity and a rich craft tradition, India’s share of the global market for crafts is less than 2%.
In our relentless drive towards urbanization and job creation requiring new skills, has the handmade sector—
handicrafts—been forgotten?
The problem is, most people don't know the difference between 'handmade' and 'hand crafted'.
I didn't know the exact difference either!
The American Heritage Dictionary defines Handmade as- made or prepared by hand rather than by machine and Handcrafted as- to fashion or make by hand. Don't you think it's almost the same...?
However, there is a slight difference between them. It falls into the realm of Art vs. Craft
